The mission of the Oneida Community Cats Committee is to work with compassionate individuals, our local government and other volunteers/community members to achieve population decline of the unaltered, free-roaming, feral, and/or abandoned domestic cats in our area through education and the use of a Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) program.
The Committee on Feral and Stray Cats was formed by and part of the Oneida Improvement Committee on March 8, 2021. This committee’s charge reads:
Charge: With enhancing the quality of life for feral and stray cats and humans as the ultimate goal, this committee will: define the scope of the feral and stray cat populations in the City of Oneida; research the most humane solutions for helping these populations; research ways to keep feral cat populations in check with a TNR, “Trap‐Neuter‐Return” Program; research the costs and availability of potential solutions; work to develop a fund under the OIC to offset the cost of a TNR Program; work on finding the availability of other resources, such as spay/neutering and vaccine clinics, the availability of stray cat adoption from area shelters and humane non‐profit organizations, and whatever else the committee deems relevant based on their research findings.
The committee will include no less than 3 members. Meetings typically will be the last Wednesday of every month at 6pm at the Oneida Public Library. Cancellations and updates will be announced via OIC social media pages. Public participation will be encouraged.
